The Fero Iris 4G LTE Smartphone Review

The Fero Iris is a 4G LTE mid-range Smartphone that enters the market with new security feature capabilities. The highlight point of this device is the IRIS technology that allows users to use the iris scanner in reinforcing the security of their phones as opposed to the use of a fingerprint scanner. Apart from the Iris scanner, other features are kept standard considering the fact that it targets mid-range users on a budget.

Design and Features

The Fero Iris sports is made of plastic save for the back panel that features a titanium based metallic. The smartphone measures 114x72x9 mm and weighs at 137g, this is light enough to slide into your pocket and carry it all day. Users will be able to choose between the Gold and Space Grey colors available. The smartphone comes packed in a 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with a HD resolution of 280x 720 pixels. The images in the Iris are crisp and clear thanks to the use of the In-Plane switching technology.

The camera in the Fero Iris does not excite either but then it is capable of taking quality photos when you are out in the beach or camping with friends. There is an 8MP camera embedded on the rear with an LED flash. The font features a 2MP camera which is besides the Iris Camera, this is also not good news for the selfie enthusiasts, but at its budget price we cannot ask for more.

The Fero Iris features a Mediatek MTK6737 chipset quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz for faster processing speeds. The system runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow that offers a user friendly interface. The device packs 1 GB RAM which will be sufficient for handling a number of tasks such as playing music, videos and playing of casual games. Equally, Storage includes 8GB built-in which is barely enough considering the fact that the OS and other applications take almost half of the space. It is however expendable to 32 GB by use of a MicroSD memory card.

Connectivity options include a Micro USB 2.0 (USB OTG) port for transfer of data and charging purposes. Internet connectivity is available by use of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot and it also supports Bluetooth 4.2. The device supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks and it features a dual sim which are both micro SIM.

The 2500 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery packed in this system offers some plenty of battery usage time to take you through the day before it runs dry.

The Fero Iris is a mid-range smartphone that packs decent features to offer a reliable performance. Its selling point remains on the iris scanner instead of the finger print scanner. If you want to step up the security of your phone by adding another authentication level, then the Fero Iris is worth your consideration.
