Do you want to buy a television but are confused about what to go for? Read on to find out what you need to know before buying a television.

LED is the most Common and Affordable Television Panel

The most important aspect of a TV is the screen. There are plenty of new screen technologies such as OLED and QLED.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is affordable but less energy efficient. The most used screen technology is LED-LCD which offers a brighter viewing experience. Many entry-level buyers will go for this option hence the most affordable big-screen TVs have this screen technology.

Quantum Dot technology (QLED) is a new, uncommon and expensive screen technology that has been pushed heavily by Samsung mostly. It is a bit cheaper than OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs which are the most expensive.

Television Screen Size

Choosing the right TV size is influenced by the room where you watch it from and the distance between you and your sitting arrangement.

Many people prefer bigger things generally as they equate them to being better. However, you don’t want yourself moving your neck too much while watching your favourite program.

When buying a television, chose one that you are comfortable with. Many buyers at the moment are opting for screen sizes that are around 40 inches. Nonetheless, you are free to go for an even bigger option if it suits your needs.

Television Screen Resolution

Screen resolution is important when buying a new television. HD or HD-Ready (1280×720 or 720) are the most basic resolutions available. They offer poor quality unless your screen is 32 inches or below.

If you want to experience high resolution, it is better to go with Full-HD (1920×1080 pixels or 1080p) or 4K (3840×2160 pixels). They will offer the clearest pictures.

Do I need HDR?

High Dynamic Range (HDR) refers to the ability of your TV set to play back supported content with a great dynamic range in colour. It is brighter and clear in visuals.

Smart TV: Do I need One?

Just like a smartphone, a smart television is also available. You can connect it to apps and to the internet. You access content directly from the internet.

These are just but a few of the most important elements to look out for before buying a television.
