Are you a new vaper who is confused about the type of vaporizer to buy? This article explains the 4 types of vaporizers, categorized according to their generations.

Choosing the best vaporizer may appear difficult at first. However, it is much easier to begin by understanding the basic types of vaporizers. One thing about vaporizers is that regardless of how basic or advanced they are, they have three main components in common:

  1. The battery: Provides power and can be charged either internally or externally.
  2. The atomizer: Heats up and converts the e-liquid or essence into steam.
  3. The e-liquid or essence: It is the tasty “juice” that is put in the tank. Vaporizers have evolved significantly to include more high-tech and custom options.

Categories of Vape Devices

1. Cig-A-Likes Vaping Devices (1st generation)

Cig-A-Likes are basic vaporizers that look like normal cigarettes. They help introduce vaping to smokers making the transition from normal cigarettes to vaporizers.

2. Vape Pens (2nd generation)

These are pen-type vaporizers. They are slightly larger than Cig-A-Likes and serve as a starter kit for new vapers. Most of them are high-tech and generally provide a better and more satisfying vaping experience than Cig-A-Likes.

3. Vape Mods (3rd generation)

Vape Mods are the third-generation vaporizers, created because vapers were looking for a more powerful vaping experience. They are more powerful, durable, advanced, and much safer.

4. Pod Systems (the newest generation)

Pod mods combine the portability and convenience of e-cigarettes or vape pens with the power of Vape mods. They produce vapor by utilizing a single pod within the vape, eliminating the need for an atomizer or tank.

There are two types of pod systems: open pods and closed pods. Open pods are similar to standard tanks in that you can manually remove them and fill with your preferred juice. You can replace them after 4-5 refills. Closed pods, like single-use coffee pods, are disposable and come pre-filled with e-liquid.
