Google Docs is an online word processor packed with great features. But while working with it, you may need to download images in the document and save them on your computer. Unfortunately, Google Docs does not provide a direct way to do so, either through right-click or any other straightforward method. However, you can still download images from Google Docs and save them on your computer through other methods. While using these methods might be tricky, they get the job done at last.

This guide shares two methods you can use to download Google Docs images and save them on your computer.

How to Download as an HTML file

HTML is the markup language for building web pages. Apparently, Google Docs allows you to download documents as HTML files (web pages). When you download a Google Docs file containing images, it will be saved as a compressed folder (zip file) with images in a different folder.

To download a Google Docs file as a HTML document, click on File > Download > Web Page (.html, zipped). Now open the downloaded zipped file. In it, there is a folder labeled “Images”. Open it. You will find all the images in the document.

You can also do so through the following steps:

  1. Double click on the downloaded HTML file so that the web browser can open it.
  2. When you open the HTML document using the web browser, you can download the images in it, just the way you download images from the web.
  3. Right-click on the image you would like to download, click “Save Image as”, and save it in your preferred location.
How to Download Using Save to Keep

You can download Google Docs images easily using a feature called “Save to Keep”. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the image you would like to download
  2. Scroll down to “More Options”
  3. Click on “Save to Keep”
  4. You will find your image in the sidebar on the right
  5. Right-click on it and select “Save Image as”
  6. Select the location you would like to save your image and click “Save”

Both of the above methods to download Google Docs images work just fine. You can use the methods to download images and save them on your computer without interfering with their resolutions and qualities.
