Eneza Education & their Kenyan telecom partner Safaricom have been nominated as one of the Best Mobile Innovations for Education in the Mobile World Congress 2018 Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO), under the Fourth Industrial Revolution category.
They are one of a handful of African nominees announced at the event, which will take place in Barcelona later this month. The awards dubbed the Oscars of the mobile industry recognizes industry leaders like Apple, Google and Huawei.
In their category, Best Mobile Innovation for Education, fellow big-name nominees are:

● Ericsson with UNESCO, UK-DFID, Qualcomm & other partners for Connect to Learn Myanmar (Myanmar) ● Paltel Group for Empowering e-Learning (Pakistan)
● Turk Telekom for Project Sunshine Games (Turkey)
Eneza Education CEO, Kago Kagichiri said that this nomination just confirms that simple technology solving unshiny problems at scale is what emerging markets really want, and need.

Through USSD/SMS, the most basic of dumb-phones can provide interactive chat-based lessons and assessments for primary and secondary school youth in Kenya, sessions with local tutors, gaming and competitions on a national level and even access to internet resources like Wikipedia without an internet connection.
