How to Apply for a Kenyan Passport Online Via eCitizen
First of all, you need to have an eCitizen account in case you don’t have one already. It’s also important to note that application made to other people is rejected unless they are under age or have special needs. Moreover, original documents are required when going to the Immigration Office for verification.
Procedure
- Login to eCitizen and go to the Department of Immigration Services.
- Click on the tab and visit the make application section.
- Select the type of Kenyan passport that you want to apply for.
- Read carefully all the available instructions and after you have understood click on the apply button at the bottom.
- Fill the relevant forms “Application Type” as well as “Page Count”. Select the process that you want to undertake.
- After you are done, click the “Continue Button.
- Choose the method of payment and complete the necessary transactions.
- Download and print the application as well as the transaction copies of the receipt.
- Sign the form.
- Submit the documents in person at the nearest Immigration Centre.
Requirements for the Application of a Kenyan Passport Online
The following is what is needed while applying for a Kenyan passport online;
- An eCitizen application form and three copies of the transaction receipt.
- Original birth certificate and photocopies.
- National ID card and photocopies.
- Present yourself for the digital photo capture.
- Recommender’s ID card.
- Consent letters if minors.
- Affidavit and police abstract if it is for a lost passport.
- Three current passport size photos according to the department’s set standards.
- Your current passport plus the last 3 pages in case it’s for replacement.
- Parents national ID cards and copies of death certificates if deceased.
- An explanation letter for a lost or destroyed passport. It must detail the circumstances and reasons.
Once you have physically submitted the documents to the Immigration Offices and given an all clear, you will have your Kenyan passport in 10 days for first application. All the other applications take 5 working days.
