Would you like to capture scrolling screenshots on your smartphone easily? This article shares two ways you can capture long scrolling screenshots on your Android device.

Screenshots enable you to capture images of anything appearing on your screen and save them for later reference. You can take a screenshot of a webpage, an image, a document, or a social media conversation. However, you can’t take a screenshot of the entire page at a go—only the part that is visible. But with a scrolling screenshot feature, nothing is impossible.

A scrolling screenshot is a screenshot that captures not just what is visible on the screen at one moment, but also the invisible part of a scrollable page. The screenshot is taken in multiple passes, each one capturing a part of the page that is currently in view. They are then stitched together perfectly to create a single, long image.

How to take a scrolling screenshot (Android 11 or later)

If your device runs on Android 11 or later, it has a built-in feature that enables you to take a scrolling screenshot. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Navigate to the content you would like to take a screenshot of.
  2. Press and hold the volume-down and power buttons at the same time.
  3. Your phone will take a regular screenshot and display its thumbnail at the bottom. Some other options will also appear.
  4. In the options that appear, tap “Capture more” then tap on the thumbnail.
  5. A tall scrolling screenshot of the page will appear on the next page.
  6. You can edit the screenshot further to fit your preference using the provided tools and tap “Save” when you’re done.

Note that the procedure above may vary from device to device.

How to capture a scrolling screenshot using a third-party app

If your Android device runs Android 10 or earlier, you cannot use the above method to capture scrolling screenshots. However, you can install and use stitch & share, a third-party screenshot editor app.

Here is a guide on how to take scrolling screenshots using Stitch & Share:

  1. Install the Stitch & Share app on Google Play Store.
  2. Navigate to the page you would like to take a screenshot of.
  3. Take several screenshots as you scroll down, keeping a small part of what you captured in the previous screenshot.
  4. Tap “Stitch & Share” in the notification panel.

That’s it. You’ll find your scrolling screenshot ready. You can manually edit the screenshot with the provided tools if the pages do not align properly.

Share.
