You don’t have to crisscross Nairobi city to look for a city council agent so as to pay the parking fee. The Nairobi City County introduced a revenue collection method that is fast, easy and efficient. To pay parking fees, you just use a short code (USSD) or do it online.
Online
- You can use your phone or PC.
- Visit the Nairobi County Portal and or search for the Nairobi County e-payment parking.
- Create an account or continue without one. For an account, you will be required to give out your full name, mobile number, email address, and to create a password for any future logins.
- Click on parking and pick the service that you want. It’s either the daily, seasonal, topping up daily, penalty, off street parking or printing your receipt.
- Give out the location, type of vehicle, registration number and your mobile number
- Payment fee will appear.
- Confirm the payment.
- A pop up will come on your phone to activate the payment. Key in your Mpesa pin.
- Confirm and you are good to go.
Via USSD Code
The Nairobi Metropolitan Services changed the USSD code from *235# to *647#. Once you dial the Nairobi County USSD code, you will see a user-friendly menu pop up on your screen.
You need to key in the following information asked after you have selected for parking;
- Car registration number
- Type of car (bus, lorry, saloon, pick up, etc.)
- Select type of parking (daily, seasonal, or off street)
- The zone you want to park in
You should know that parking varies with the type of vehicle that you have. Small private cars pay Kshs. 200 and buses can go up to Kshs. 1000.
