Before you send money from your M-Pesa account to an Airtel Money user, you need to ensure that you have an active M-Pesa account with enough funds to enable the transaction to go through. Also, the Airtel mobile number of the recipient must be registered for mobile money services. After that, follow these steps to complete the transaction:

  • Choose “Send to other Network.”

How to Send Money from Airtel Money to M-Pesa

Sending money from Airtel Money to M-Pesa is also a straightforward process. Unlike sending money from M-Pesa to Airtel Money, Airtel Money enables you to send money to an M-Pesa user through both the USSD code and the SIM toolkit. Here are the procedures for sending money using both options:

Option 1: Using USSD code (*222#):

  • Dial *222# on your Airtel Money-registered SIM card.
  • Select option 4, which is “Send Money.”
  • Next, select “Send to M-Pesa.”
  • Enter the recipient’s Safaricom M-Pesa mobile number.
  • Enter the amount you want to send.
  • Confirm the transaction details and enter your Airtel Money PIN to complete the transaction.

Option 2: Using the Airtel SIM Toolkit:

  • Open the Airtel SIM toolkit and select “Airtel Money.”
