Instagram has hit a new milestone: 400 million monthly active users. The stat was announced in a blog post Tuesday, just about 10 months after Instagram first hit 300 monthly active users.
Its growth from 200 million to 300 million happened in roughly the same time span, which means that the service is growing fast, although its growth is not necessarily accelerating. Still, it’s grown to an impressive size. Twitter is currently at 316 million monthly active users, while Pinterest just hit 100 million.
The social media platform has evolved to be even more global, Interestingly, it’s growth is happening largely outside of the US. 75 percent of its users live outside of US, with recent growth coming from Europe and Asia; Among the last 100 million to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia.
Instagram also says that, its users contributes 80 million photos per day in total.
