Creating a PeoplePerHour account is an excellent way to launch a successful online freelancing career, especially if you’re a beginner. This profile will act as a strong portfolio to help you attract potential clients and even win new projects.

But you’ll need the energy to do all of this since the freelance market is competitive, with over 200,000 freelancers on PeoplePerHour alone. Yet, only 1% are ranked as top-rated.

While competition is intense, it’s possible to stand out and win well-paying clients.

We take you through a step-by-step guide so you can create an impressive freelance profile.

How To Set Up Your Freelance PeoplePerHour Profile

Our easy steps below will help you create your profile in less than 2 hours.

Step 1: Sign up
Visit Google or any of your preferred search engines and search for the PeoplePerHour website, then click on it.

Scroll down and select “I want to work as a freelancer.”

You’ll see a pop-up asking you to sign up; fill in your details, including your official name, email, and password.

To verify your details, you’ll receive an email from PeoplePerHour asking you to activate your account. Click on the link provided, then continue to step 2.

Step 2: Upload a profile photo
Use a photo of yourself that represents you as a professional. Have your picture taken in an area that is well-lit, make sure to dress nicely, and smile. Let it showcase your own personality.

Step 3: Include your job title
When describing your job or position within the freelance sector, be clear and concise.

This headline is one of the most crucial components of your profile because it aids clients in selecting the best candidate for the position and is prominently displayed.

Step 4: Design an Original Cover Image

Your PPH profile’s header is made up of the cover image. It’s a sizable banner image that gives you the chance to customize your profile and give it a distinctive appearance.

Step 5: Set your hourly rate
In this step, your area of expertise will determine your rates, but as a general rule;

If you’re just starting out, you can charge between $10 and $30 per hour (£10 to £22/hour).

If you’re a freelancer with experience, then set your rate at $30 to $60 per hour (£22 to £45 per hour).

As an expert freelancer, your range can be anywhere from $60 to $150 or more per hour (£45 to £100 or more per hour).

Step 6: Add your mobile or home contact information

That said, PPH requires your phone number and country code to use only in emergencies when its customer support needs to get in touch with you. But your contact information will not be displayed on your profile.

Step 7: Create Your “About You” Summary

This is the part that describes what you do.

To achieve all these, ask yourself these three questions and answer them in the description space.

  • Who am I?
  • What are my areas of expertise and specialization?
  • How can I help my clients solve their problems and meet their needs?

Keep updating your profile every time you gain additional freelance experience.

Step 8: Add Skills to Your Profile
A maximum of 15 skills may be listed. We advise selecting at least five abilities that are pertinent to both your desired new project categories and your prior experience.

Step 9: Add Your Language Proficiencies
Given that PeoplePerHour is a UK-based business, English is its official working language. But you’re free to add more languages you’re proficient with, especially if you’re a translator.

Step 10: Upload Your Portfolio
After you’ve added your languages, it’s time to put your best work on display in your portfolio. Make certain that it accurately represents the work you are capable of doing and what you would like to do more of.

Step 11: Include your location
You only need to enter the city in which you reside.

Step 12: Indicate Your Availability and Other Settings
Select your profile picture by clicking on the upper menu bar. A slider with a green or red icon will be visible. You can specify your availability here. Click the circle to select “Show as Busy or Available Now.”

Step 13: Submit Your Profile
Next, click on “Submit Application” to send your profile for review.

The PPH team will then check your profile to make sure it complies with all terms and regulations. It’s likely to be accepted in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Conclusion

At the beginning, it takes a lot of time and effort to set up an impressive freelance profile. We advise you to take a few days or a week—whatever time you need—until you complete every aspect of your profile. You can edit again and again till you get the desired result. It is worth the effort!
