Global premier mobile phone brand TECNO Mobile (www.TECNO-mobile.com) recently launched a new smartphone: the CAMON 15 series with 64MP SONY camera and trademarked TAIVOS™ technology.

If you thought that Tecno Phantom 9 is premium, think again since Tecno Camon 15 is remarkably built. Tecno has managed to raise the bar with this device by manufacturing a product that stands out owing to the excellent specs that were absent in Camon 12 Pro and Camon 12 Air , its predecessors.

Retailing at Kes 17,999, The Tecno Camon 15 is a camera focused device and the manufacturer hopes that it will surpass the success of its predecessors.

Design, Display and Performance

Tecno Mobile continues to impress and it has not broken this trend with Camon 15. The device  is encased in a smooth plastic casing which I love. The device is fitted with a 6.55-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

It is a device that brags a stylish finishing that appears to be enhanced by a carefully built body. The device has an attractive and elegant design. On the back, the phone has  a linear gradient of two colours with a rectangular camera.

The TECNO Camon 15 runs HiOS based on Android 10. The phone is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards and it is available in Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple, and Dark Jade colours.

Camera(s)

As one of the most remarkable camera phones, CAMON 15 series has been highlighted through several platforms including the first online launch event in Africa, the spokesman Wizkid, and the biggest flip book recorded by Guinness World Records ever.

Tecno Camon 15 sports a motorized pop-up selfie camera, a 64MP quad camera at the back. The fingerprint sensor is rear-mounted just as it is on the Camon 15.

The 64 MP main camera is equipped with TECNO’s signature Ultra Clear Shot, Ultra Night Shot, Super HDR, and AI Scene Detection features, which creates super high-resolution photography and compensates for changing light conditions. The CAMON 15 is the first-ever smartphone in Africa to come equipped with Sony’s 64 MP, smart chip- backed camera lens.

That means 8x zoom is possible not only when shooting pictures, but afterwards as well, letting you scale up your shots without losing even the tiniest details. Meanwhile, Sony’s large ½- inch sensor recognizes and captures more light during the evening that other cameras, eliminating visual noise for better night shots.

The TECNO AI Vision Optimization Solution is a signal processing trademarked TAIVOS™ technology. TAIVOS™ enables up to 15-frame synth with an imaging time of just 4.68 seconds– most other smartphones only achieve this in 5.5 seconds or maybe even 7 seconds. That means that the photographs shot with TAIVOS™ are built from a composite of 15 image frames that can be analyzed and recombined pixel-for-pixel, vividly capturing each element in your scenes with optimal contrast.

This technology really benefits photography lovers throughout the day, including during the night, since evening shades naturally tend to run together and darken after nightfall.

Battery

The battery on the Camon 15 is also larger. Compared to the Camon 12 which came with a 4000mAh battery, It comes with a slightly bigger battery – a 5000mAh battery. TECNO says the device comes with a ‘Safe Charge’ feature and on a full charge, you can use the device for a whole day without ever having to worry about charging. Battery last upwards of 10 hrs  with decent browsing and daily normal use.

Bottom Line

Tecno Camon 15 is a great smartphone. I would definitely recommend it to someone who needs a good camera smartphone. It is well built and appealing to the eye. The rear camera meets expectations so does the front-facing camera. It is prudent for me to predict that the device will do well in the market and become popular given that customers can get value for their money.
