In this guide, I will explore the pros and cons of both wall mount and stand mount and help you decide what is the best option for your TV.
What is a Stand Mount?
Stand mounting or table mounting involves erecting your television set on a flat surface. This is usually a TV stand or table. Modern television sets come with a base stand to hold the TV. This is easily done at home with the basic tools.
Why Use a stand mount for your TV
It offers easier accessibility when you need to get to the access ports at the back. Moreover, most come with shelves or storage areas so you can easily set up your soundbar or gaming consoles. Movement is also easy with a stand mount.
Disadvantages of having a Stand Mount
One of the major cons of the stand mount is that it occupies a lot of surface space. A tabletop or base needs to be big to accommodate your TV.
Moreover, the viewing height may be too low or not standard enough to one’s liking.
Additionally, if you have a kid or a pet it comes as a hazard because you never know when it will be pushed or pulled. This can damage the TV as well as cause bodily harm to the child or pet.
TV Wall Mounting
A wall mount is simply attaching your television set to the wall directly as the name suggests. This technique is not as easy as the stand mount one. You will need to put in a lot of effort and in most cases, you will require a specialist in this area.
Why the Wall Mount?
Wall mounting saves you a lot of space. Additionally, it brings out an aesthetic look because of its minimalistic look.
Disadvantages of Wall Mounting
The cost of wall mounting may add to the burden of your new TV and it needs to be done appropriately because a shoddy job may be catastrophic. Moreover, accessing ports at the back can be hectic with wall mounting.
Cables such as HDMI will need additional work. Lastly, you will need extra space for your consoles, set-top boxes, etc.
