Jamii Telecommunications Limited popularly known as JTL has launched its own mobile network dubbed Faiba 4G Mobile. The service which will be delivering mobile data through 4G but will also include VoLTE ( a high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones) the first of its kind in Kenya.
Faiba 4G Mobile will be using the mobile number prefix ” 0747”. Faiba 4G is available in Kisumu, Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret and Thika. The SIM Card can be found in PhoneXpress shops where you get a free SIM card if you buy a data bundle.
Jamii Telecom is expected to launch its mobile money offerings through the Faiba Money and later Faiba Pay which will be used to dilute Safaricom’s domination of the network. However, It remains to be seen how this will play out.

While this looks like a deal for many consumers, JTL needs to do better in handling customer care issues. The firm would do better with a working website, active customer care on phone and via its social media pages and also have a working public and media relations team otherwise its success will just be the launch.
