How can business proprietors make it easy for established websites, publishers, and magazines to want to put up their content talking about their business? Simple, with a press kit. When your business is put under a microscope by a huge publication or website, it does it a lot of good. This will be precious to your business because it is a free press. It will generate traffic that will be highly beneficial.
Press Kit (Media kit)
We define this as a page on your website that comprises resources and information for publishers and reporters. It makes it substantially easy for reporters to quickly get a grasp on your brand and product. It further gives them a platform to access marketing materials and images. In short, it gives them all the basic information about your business.
We should however note that a press kit is not necessarily solely for reporters or publications only. Anybody who has to push your business has all the ingredients to make it simpler for them. This can be anybody with a podcast, blog, or an individual giving out a testimony in a community.
Apart from giving directions, your press kit should be easy to find on your website. No one wants to go treasure hunting on your site. Putting a link on your home page might not be an ideal suggestion but it’s a great idea to include a press, media kit or press kit in the footer of your home page.
The Recipe for a Good Press Kit
A press kit might vary depending on the type of business that you are undertaking. There are a few suggestions that I would recommend for you to put on your site.
Essential Items
Your history: it is great for people to identify and know where you came from and how your business took off. Tell the visitors about yourself and what your intentions are.
Facts about the business: tell people how many people you have served, how long have you been in the business and all the important facts about your company.
Clear business logos and images: It is essential to make it easy for publishers to use your logo and any other graphics. Use high-quality, high-resolution graphics that will bring out your logo and make it easier for them to be used. If it is possible, throw in a download option.
Your team: If you have anybody else in your team it is important that you introduce them and their role in the business.
Sample of press: Show the visitors some of the other publications that have been made on your business. They can either be blog posts, press releases, interviews, and articles on other websites.
Some information may not be that important but put it there just in case it is needed. This includes media emails, name spelling and capitalization, audio or video interviews, awards, recognitions, and volunteer involvement.
Look for press
When the idea of a press kit crosses your mind think about the websites and publications. You know where and what you want so when putting it up, consider the essential elements. There are even apps that can help you generate one. Go out there and network if you want press coverage. It makes it easier for the media to cover you.
