Tecno Camon C9 Android Smartphone Review

7

If you thought that Tecno Phantom 5 is premium, think again since Tecno Camon C9 is remarkably built. Tecno has managed to raise the bar with this device by manufacturing a product that stands out owing to the excellent specs that were absent in Camon C8 and Camon C5, its predecessors. The Tecno Camon C9 is a camera focused device and the manufacturer hopes that it will surpass the success of its predecessors.

What We Think You Need to Know

Design and Display

Tecno Mobile continues to impress and it has not broken this trend with Camon C9. Tecno Camon C9 is encased in a smooth plastic casing which I love. The device is fitted with a 5.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is a device that brags a stylish finishing that appears to be enhanced by a carefully built body. Camon C9 has an attractive and elegant design and is available in three different colors, black, white and red. I was initially appalled by the curved back but I eventually appreciated it since it adds to the overall design which I adore.

The design’s sleekness is acceptable and it is further enhanced by the pencil thin figure. Camon C9 design is a suitable blend of functionality and sleekness.

Performance

The phone’s performance is not exemplary. With a 1.3GHz processor, 2GB RAM and a good operating system, I expected better performance. It can sometimes hang for short period of time but then pick up. I cannot categorise this device as a top performer yet. The eye print identification is a feature that cannot go unmentioned. The good news is that it cannot unlock when someone else tries while the bad news is that sometimes it does not unlock with the first attempt, not often though.

Camera(s)

I can confirm that Camon C9’s camera is undeniably its best feature. The device has two 13-MP cameras on both sides. This is accompanied by a single flash for the rear and dual flash for the back. The front camera allows for more people to be featured in a selfie owing to its 83 0 capturing angle. The cameras can take great pictures even in low light and this makes me appreciate the device even more. I had high expectations for the selfie camera and it did not disappoint, it takes breath-taking photos. I was also impressed since the camera produces gorgeous selfies in both artificial and natural light. The front and back cameras are awesome even in low light and anyone looking for a smartphone with a really good camera should look no further since Camon C9 is magical.

Battery

Tecno Camon C9 has 3000mAh battery units which would have been much better if a full HD screen was incorporated instead of 720p. I was not entirely impressed by how long the battery lasts.

Nevertheless, I have come to accept that battery technology is not developing as fast as other aspects of a smartphone so I have had to manage my expectations and adjust. On the other hand, I am sorted as long as it can last the whole day on normal use and lower endurance on 3G networks. For heavy users, it lasts from between 4 to 5 hours; therefore, I would not recommendit to this group. There is nothing as frustrating as having to charge a phone more than once a day.

An aspect I found okay is the fast charging capability. The Marshmallow’s battery saving feature, Doze, is also okay.

Bottom Line

Tecno Camon C9 is a great smartphone. I would definitely recommend it to someone who needs a good camera smartphone. It is well built and appealing to the eye. The rear camera meets expectations so does the front-facing camera. It is prudent for me to predict that the device will do well in the market and become popular given that users can get value for their money from the complete package. The device is trending thanks to the captivating ad that the giant mobile manufacturer has put out.
